I haven't really been around much, so to remedy that - I will be gone even more!

Eh, I've been seriously sick, stressed, and as always when school ends, I'm exhausted beyond belief. I just can't bring myself to write right now. My hope is that if I go into hiatus for a while and just let the creative juices flow, I'll not only have new ideas and motivation but also be able to write ahead so I will be able to update a bit more regularly (once I get back around to it). And I don't want to stress myself about updating, because writing should be fun.

So: Mockingbird, Let the Devil Down, the outsider!verse and the genie!verse will be continued some time in the fall, along with some new ideas if they manage to survive. I'll still be around and reading, and I'm sorry if anyone happens to be upset.

Okay, at the risk of this sounding a bit odd, I'm asking for recs. But here's the deal:

I'm going home in a couple of days, which means that I'm going to spend long and boring hours on the plane with nothing to do and boredom taking over about an hour in. If you're lucky, you'll have lots of new fic when I arrive, but because time always passes nice and fast when I read, I'm asking for fics that I can download (in their entirety) onto my computer. Sam stared at the screen, his fingers still frozen where they had been poised to strike. 

Hard drive failure is imminent. Press F1 to continue. 
stared back at him. 

Arms as heavy as lead, he pressed F1, but nothing. He pressed it again. He restarted the computer. He removed the battery and pressed power for about thirty seconds, restarted the computer again and watched for the flickering light of the drive.

He breathed a quiet sigh of relief as the blue lamp gave a half-hearted stutter. His data wasn't gone gone, it was just gone.

He started as small, warm hands settled on his shoulders.

"What's wrong, Sam?" Jess asked into his ear.

Sam raised an eyebrow at her, then at the screen.

She pursed her lips, gave a sympathetic smile.

"Is it completely dead?"

He shook his head.

"No. I just can't get to the things I need and the essay I need to turn in tomorrow and all my data and my entire research results and every single note I ever took."

He paused, heaved a deep breath.

"But it's not completely dead."

She smiled, pressed a kiss to his cheek, before spinning his chair around and tugging at his hand while she gestured towards the bedroom.

"Then I know what we should do. You can have a heart attack later."

So here's my idea: (Fic? What fic?)

Since the responses to Just Another Kid were pretty much overwhelming, and a whole bunch of people commented on really liking outsider POVs, I (with a little help from xphoenixrising) had this really over-the-top idea.

The outsider!verse

So basically, it would be 12 outsider stories, one for every month of the year. They wouldn't be consecutive, and the months wouldn't necesarily have anything to do with the fic (JAK would be September, for instance). I already have a couple ideas, but I'd really like to hear other people's opinions on the whole deal, and who better to ask than you (yes, you), right?

So, should I go for it? Scratch it? Go back to my damn homework?

Seriously. It doesn't even have a pairing. O_o Feel free to remove me from your flists now.

I've wanted to write a teacher-who-doesn't-adore-Sam fic for a while now, and I love outsiders' perspectives.
